# How to split a PDF into multiple files

> Three easy ways to split a PDF: by page ranges, every page, or equal parts — plus how to save just one page. Free and private.

Splitting a PDF lets you send only the pages someone needs or break a huge file into parts small enough to upload. There are three ways to do it.

## 1. Split by page ranges
Best when you know exactly which pages belong together. Open Split PDF, add your file, choose By page ranges and type ranges separated by commas — for example 1-3, 4-10, 11. You'll get three PDFs.

## 2. Split every page
Best for a stack of separate documents scanned together. Choose Every page (or use Split PDF into single pages) and you'll get one PDF per page in a ZIP.

## 3. Split into equal parts
Best for upload limits. Choose Every N pages and type a number; a 60-page file split every 20 pages gives you three files.

## Just need one or two pages?
Use Extract pages: click the pages you want and save them as a new PDF. To throw away pages instead, use Remove pages.

## Opening the ZIP file
When you split into several files they arrive in one ZIP. Double-click it on Windows or Mac. On Android, open it in the Files app and tap Extract. On iPhone, tap it in the Files app.
