# How to sign a PDF online without printing

> Add your signature to a PDF without printing or scanning. Draw, type or upload your signature, place it and download — on phone or computer.

Printing a document just to sign it and scan it back is slow. You can add your signature directly to the PDF in a couple of minutes.

## Steps

- Open Sign PDF and add your document.

- Create your signature: Draw it with your finger or mouse, Type your name in a handwriting style, or Upload a photo of your signature on white paper (the background is removed for you).

- Go to the right page with the arrows and click Add signature to this page.

- Drag the signature onto the line and drag the round corner to resize it. Click Add today's date if needed.

- Click Sign PDF and download.

## Getting a neat signature

- Drawing on a phone is easier than with a mouse — turn your phone sideways for more room.

- For an uploaded signature, sign on plain white paper with a dark pen and photograph it in good light.

- Blue ink can help show the document was signed rather than photocopied.

## Is it legally valid?
A drawn or typed signature is accepted for many everyday documents, like returning a signed offer letter or a consent form. Some documents need a certified signature: in India, where the law specifically requires an electronic signature under the IT Act, that means a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Aadhaar eSign. When in doubt, ask the person or organisation receiving the document.

## Is it private?
Yes. Your PDF and signature are processed in your browser and never uploaded or stored.
